What is running form?

Running form is how your body moves when you run — posture, foot strike, knee drive, arm swing and lean. Small flaws raise injury risk and waste energy.

Can running form really be analyzed from a single photo?

Yes for visible mechanics — foot strike, overstride, lean, knee drive, arm swing, head and hip alignment, each judged view- and phase-dependently. What a photo cannot show — cadence, contact time, bounce, forces — needs video or sensors, so it is never guessed.

Is heel striking bad?

What running cadence should I aim for?

What is a good running form score?

Most recreational runners score 55-75 out of 100. Anything under 60 usually means two or more zones need drills.

How is my score calculated?

Each visible zone scores 0–100 (optimal 85+, fair 60–84, critical below 60) and the overall is the rounded average. Guardrails keep it honest: any critical zone caps the total at 70, two or more cap it at 60.

What can't a photo measure?

Cadence, ground-contact time, vertical bounce, loading rate, leg stiffness and pronation speed all need time-series, video or force data — so they are never guessed from your photo, only prescribed as drills where the evidence supports them.

Does overstriding cause injuries?

Overstride mechanics feed hamstring strain and raise tibial loading, and high loading rates are tied to stress fractures — which is why braking force, not foot strike alone, is what gets flagged. Fix overstriding →
